The best kept secret on Vancouver Island, just 10 minutes north from downtown Campbell River, awaits one of the island’s most enchanting destinations; the Dolphins Resort.

Panabode cabins nestled amongst the trees exude tranquility, romance and relaxation.  These quaint cabins are uniquely furnished with antiques and wood burning fireplaces presenting an ambience of warmth and old fashioned charm.

The breath taking views overlooking Discovery Passage, majestic firs and lush gardens makes Dolphins a wonderful get away for outdoor enthusiasts, a romantic interlude or to just kick back and relax. The location offers an incredible diverse menu of activities and adventure from hiking and biking on the local trails, kayaking in the estuary, fly fishing on the local rivers, to bird watching from your private deck.  Finish off the day, gazing out at the moon and stars glimmering over the ocean, planning your next adventure, soaking in the steamy hot tub outside your door.

dolphins-3Though renowned for fishing, Dolphins Resort’s beginnings were of a different nature. In the late 1940’s Lucy Russell’s vision was to have a tea house. Lucy had previously been involved in another tea house in Victoria called the Dolphins; therefore the name was an obvious choice. With amazing fishing at Dolphins doorstep, the evolution from tea house to fishing resort was a natural progression.  Clint Cameron started working at the Dolphins as a fishing guide in 1970 at the age of 15. Clint’s talent and love for fishing and the outdoors made purchasing the Dolphins in 1985 an easy choice for him and his family.

Tantalize your taste buds with the simple pleasures and rustic elegance at the Dolphins restaurant, the “Angler’s”. Chef Lopez’s culinary artistry will keep you dreaming about your next visit as he prides himself on creating tasty west coast cuisine with local product and hearty portions. A full hot breakfast is included and served every morning for all the guests.  No one makes french toast or omelettes on Vancouver Island like these guys. It’s worth the drive just for the weekend breakfasts.  The cozy intimate ambience makes for a wonderfully exclusive dining experience.

If your intent is relaxation and mindful rejuvenation or an exhilarating outdoor adventure, I encourage you to consider Dolphins Resort.
